In the short time our hotel has been involved in social media, we've read many articles regarding best practices for businesses and their participation in these ever evolving platforms of interaction and communication. Interaction and communication - that was the top priority on the list when setting out to become a part of online communities, and it still is. We want to communicate with our guests in the ways that most interest them - be it by phone, email or *gasp* snail mail. But we recognize the need to be present in social media as well and have entered this realm optimistically.
People are going to talk about your business whether you're listening or not, right? We agree with the many articles we've read that businesses should take a proactive approach and get in on the conversations.
So if businesses are in on the conversations, do consumers really care who is relaying the information? Again, it's subjective, but it couldn't hurt to know, right?
We tweet often and have conversations with a few of our great followers - they usually are individuals and have a profile picture displayed, so we have an idea of who we are conversing with; but they don't know who is talking to them from behind the Grand Hyatt DFW photo . . . So, in the interest of transparency, we've (I've) decided to pull back the curtains, à la Wizard of Oz. It's not like it's a big secret, and frankly, no one has asked, but if you're curious - now you will know.
*Drum Roll Please*
The person tweeting, blogging and posting on Facebook for Grand Hyatt DFW is . . . .

What makes a hotel standout in the crowd? All hotels have beds, bathrooms and restaurants, right? So what keeps guests coming back again and again? While keeping our product in tip top shape is important, we like to nurture the culture in which our associates thrive. You can tell that we are proud of our hotel, and it comes across in our daily guest interactions. We are selling an experience, and we pride ourselves in providing authentic hospitality. But it's not enough for you to just hear it from us, that is why we truly appreciate when a guest reaches out to us to recognize those associates that make his or her stay special.
Here is a recent letter we received and have been given permission to share with all of you. She was here to experience the Epicurean Studio Weekend package. Thank you to those associates that did their part in making her stay so memorable.
Have you ever stayed at our hotel? We'd love to hear from you. Feel free to share in the comments section, or visit our Facebook Fan Page.

The Grand Hyatt DFW's Diversity Commitee has partnered with the Christian Community Action Foundtion (CCA) for our holiday initiative. This is our 2nd Annual "Coats and Cans for Charity" drive, and it has quickly become a favorite cause amoung Grand Hyatt DFW's associates.
We will be collecting new or gently used coats and jackets, as well as can goods, in our HR department from Decebmer 7 - 14, 2009.
About the CCA:
When a family is hungry, tired and has no place to go, it is hard for them to help themselves. For more than 35 years, CCA has been feeding, sheltering, educating and training families in need within 42 communities throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties. In one year, CCA assists more than 12,000 individuals. Our coats and cans will benefit those who need them most, guaranteed.
Do you have a favorite cause? Feel free to share in our comments section. We are always looking for ways to Give Back. Happy Holidays!
