Supporting our Troops: Hyatt's Annual "Feed the Troops" Event

On Monday, November 23, hundreds of soldiers and other military personnel, traveling through DFW for deployment, enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal courtesy of the Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency DFW hotels at Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport.

It is always our priveledge to honor those serving our country, and we hope this small gesture helps to brighten their day a little.  "We've very happy to give back to the troops who give so much to this country. We did this event last year, and it has became an annual tradition for the Grand Hyatt and the Hyatt Regency DFW. I thought it went very well this year, and we are all looking forward to many more 'Feed the Troops' in years to come!" said Markus, F&B Director at the Grand Hyatt DFW.

Thank you to the soldiers and their families who sacrifice so much for us all.  Happy Thanksgiving!

INSIDE GRAND HYATT DFW: Saline Pool

Our rooftop, heated pool has bid adieu to chlorine. Well, in the traditional sense at least. Hello, saline!  That's right, starting today, the Grand Hyatt DFW is proud to offer its guests a luxurious spa-like experience in our saline pool.

Saline Pool benefits:
1)  Fewer waterborne irritants.
2)  Smoother feeling water.
3)  No strong chlorine odor.
4)  Refreshing mineral-based formula.

What does this mean for you?
1)  This mineral water is silky-soft and soothing.
2)  There is less eye irritation.  Salinity level in the water is almost identical to the human tear.
3)  It doesn't leave your skin feeling itchy.  The soft water does not have the typical drying effect experienced in traditional chlorinated water.

"We've had some guest requests for a saline pool, and we are pleased to be able to provide it now" says Nathan, Director of Engineering.  He adds, "Another plus is that we will no longer have to store corrosive chemicals on property; just another way we are being 'green'."

Come experience it for yourself!  Our rooftop pool is located on the Fitness Center and Spa level of the hotel (9th floor).

Ever swim in a saline pool? Feel free to share in the comment section below.  Happy swimming!

INSIDE GRAND HYATT DFW: A new blog series

Bringing a new level of awareness to our guests, our new blog series "Inside Grand Hyatt DFW" will give you an inside look at our hotel and all the great features it has to offer.  If there is something you would specifically like to see covered, please email us at dfwgh-social_media@hyatt.com.

Starting off the series:

INSIDE GRAND HYATT DFW: Meeting Concierge Station

A good hotel concierge is worth his or her weight in gold, right?  I mean, they just have a way of making things happen!  We adore having a designated person at a hotel to point us in the right direction for whatever our little hearts desire.

But what if your visiting a hotel for business and not for leisure?  Wouldn't it be grand to have a designated person that you can go to to make your business trip run as smoothly as possible?  We thought so.  That is why we are proud to offer the meeting concierge station.

Located on the meeting room level, the meeting concierge station is your "one-stop shop" for assistance and information.  Featuring four flat-panel display boards, meeting attendees can view meeting schedules, weather and flight information.  They can also print a boarding pass and check-in or out of their hotel room.  But what makes this feature extra special, and adds a personal touch, is our meeting concierge, Kimi!  Always with a smile on her face, Kimi sees to all the meeting attendees' needs right from the convenience of this one station.  "The attendees love that they can get their boarding passes and check in or out of their hotel room at their convenience between their meeting schedule obligations.  I also do a lot of flight changes, or recommendations for flight changes, based on their need/want to board an earlier flight," says Kimi.  She adds, "Meeting planners also really appreciate knowing where to go and who to see when they need assistance with anything."

"The meeting concierge station provides a level of convenience that is not readily available at most hotels," says Bridget, Catering/Convention Services Director, "Not only does a highly knowledgeable meeting concierge, who is eager to provide assistance, man this station, but the station is also very user friendly."

We strive to offer all of our guests the same level of service, whether they are here for business or leisure.  We feel the meeting concierge station provides an added touch to the experience and gives meeting planners peace-of-mind knowing that their attendees are in good hands.

Grand Hyatt DFW Welcomes Home Our Heroes

Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport has a program called “Welcome Home a Hero” developed to encourage and support our deployed military.According to the group, approximately 150-275 troops come through Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport daily on their way home for a two-week R&R. Volunteers gather each day to welcome home these troops, showering them with thanks and encouragements for their service to our country.

Today, associates from the Grand Hyatt DFW gathered to support arriving soldiers inside Terminal D. Some are regular volunteers to this cause, and for others, it was their first time to participate. Kristy (Sales Department) said, “Almost all of these men and women are returning home today to Ft. Hood . . . After being gone at war for so long, it’s not the ideal situation to return home to. So it was important, today especially, to let them know we support and welcome them back!”

With our hotel being located inside Terminal D, it puts us in a prime position to lend a helping hand to these soldiers. “As a company, Hyatt believes that it is essential to give back to our community. Everyday we strive to deliver the greatest service in the world to our guests. It’s nice to give back to those brave soldiers who serve us and our country everyday”, remarked Jessica (Human Resources).

We send our love and support to all those affected by this war. We praise our soldiers and comfort the families of these brave men and women. When asked why participating in this event was important, La Tonya (Human Resources) states, “I have several family members who have and currently serve in the armed forces. I think about how each of us is or has been, at some point, connected to someone who has served our country. I want to thank them and this is one way to do that.”

Today the terminal was filled with cheers, joy, pride and of course, tears. Our associates said that they were a bit overcome with emotion, and one encounter that stuck in all of their minds was seeing a soldier be reunited with his wife and two sons, one of which he was meeting for the first time. “I overheard a soldier’s wife telling a Veteran that today, when her husband walked through those gates, it would be the first time to ever meet his 1-year-old son! And then to actually witness that moment was truly amazing!” exclaimed Kristy.

Of the experience, Griselle (Front Desk) says, “I never have had the chance to say thank you for all that they do.” Well, we’re sure that is a common thought throughout the community. But guess what? Anyone can participate! Visit http://www.welcomehomeahero.com/ for more information and to view some wonderful photos and videos.

Thanks again to our wonderful associates; we look forward to participating again soon. Please support our troops!
